Surf Instructor

Surf Instructor jobs may be full time or part time. Full time surfing jobs are usually seasonal, running from April to September/October. Freelance Surf Instructors may be offered part time or casual employment by Surf Schools that run weekend, evening or holiday courses.

The BSA (British Surfing Association) have 3 levels of Surf Coach awards available:

Level 1 Surf Coach
Level 2 Surf Coach
Level 3 Surf Coach

BSA Surf Coaches are encouraged to expand their knowledge and experience by attending coaching courses run by other organisations such as the National Coaching Foundation (NCF) and lifesaving courses run by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), the Surf Life Saving Association (SLSA) and others, e.g. The Beach Lifeguard award. Attendance at coaching and lifesaving courses (approved by the BSA), run by suitably qualified bodies, and the possession of a current life saving award (BSA approved) are prerequisites for accreditation as a BSA Surf Coach. Each of the BSA Surf Coach Awards is valid for 3 years.
