Senior Instructor – Water Sports

Description

We are a values driven organisation who over the last 10 years have developed programmes and approaches that have brought positive change to young people’s lives.

We work with one to one students, mainstream schools, run summer residential camps and weekend activities. This role will present opportunities for the post holder to bring their own creativity and ideas forward and to be involved with the team to further develop and enhance the activities on offer at Path Hill including UK based expeditions.

This opening is for an experienced instructor of water based activities: with qualifications in paddle sports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be the technical adviser for all water sport activities at Path Hill.
  • To deliver water based activities to groups and to students on the 1:1 programme
  • To maintain and manage water based equipment
  • To oversee the Health and safety training and policies pertaining to water sports
  • To deliver land based activities to our one to one students and intervention groups during the colder months such as – Fire lighting, Woodwork and Construction, Mountain Biking and various offsite activities
  • To be part of the team who plan, organise and deliver educational programmes to individual students and school groups to meet required learning outcomes.
  • To help deliver staff CPD training
  • To work as part of the team of senior instructors at Path Hill who contribute to the smooth running of the centre  

Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Experience 

  • 3+ years experience delivering water sport activities to young people individually and in groups (essential)
  • Paddle sport leader qualification (essential)
  • Experience of the safeguarding processes (essential)
  • Current first aid certificate (16 hours) - training available (essential)
  • Current, full, clean driving licence with 2 years driving experience (essential)
  • Trailer towing licence (desirable)
  • A life guarding or swimming qualification (desirable)
  • Experience working with young people with SEN (desirable)

  • Availability to work some evenings, weekends and overnights

  • Ability to work in a caring and consistent manner with students and staff
  • Excellent organisational, communication, leadership skills and to be self motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy working as part of a team, supportive of colleagues
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Availability to work some evenings, weekends and overnights
