    Starting salary would be in the region of £21,000 to £26,000 depending upon age and experience


The successful applicant will have an outgoing personality, be confident in managing/dealing with people at all levels, able to work alone and as part of a team, willing to work long hours and most weekends during the main events season (May to September), be a confident driver and capable of heavy lifting. Experience in event management is desirable but not essential as full training will be given but the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate an interest in, and enthusiasm for, events. They must be willing to attend a training course to obtain the necessary licence endorsement to drive our 3.5tonne LWB vans with large 14m dragon boat trailers and to learn to helm a dragon boat. Good organisational and office/computer skills plus an aptitude for sales and marketing are also needed as outside the events season, most of the work is office based. 

Main duties and responsibilities:
Primarily located at our office in Woodnewton near Peterborough, the Event Manager will assist in the below and be expected to take control of specific items as and when directed by the directors of the company.

a) Events
i) assistance in, and with on-going training, the management of the company’s events including management of temporary staff
ii) be involved in all aspects of the setting up/taking down of events
iii) MC and compere events as applicable 
iv) helming at dragon boat events 
v) hospitality and client welfare as applicable
vi) assist with the preparation and staffing of the company stand at exhibitions and open days
vii) promotion of Gable Events and its corporate image to clients, their guests and prospective clients at all times
viii) be aware of and ensure adherence to all Health & Safety regulations by staff, clients, guests, sponsors, suppliers and members of the public at events
ix) ensure that all events are executed to a very high standard, in a safe manner and are a credit to the reputation of Gable Events
b) Driving
i) drive company and/or hired vehicles with and without trailers to/from events subject to licence restrictions

c) Marketing and Office administration
i) marketing of the company’s services to existing and new clients via telephone, website, social media and face to face
ii) manage and promote reciprocal relationships with venues and agents to generate referrals
iii) review and assist with on-going promotion of Gable Events through Social Media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn) to keep clients informed and generate new business
iv) update and optimise the company’s websites using WordPress by adding new pages, copy, photos and video to make it attractive to users, easy to navigate and improve search rankings
v) attend Chamber of Commerce and B2B networking events to generate new business
vi) keep in contact with previous clients to maximise re-booking potential and ensure client records are up to date 
vii) maintain and update the company’s ACT database and use it to schedule work and generate group mailings
viii) client contracts and invoicing including scheduled follow-ups
ix) booking and contracting of event services e.g. equipment hire, first aid cover, water safety, hotels etc.
x) acknowledge and process Dragon Boat Festival entries
xi) write Dragon Boat Festival press releases and souvenir programmes, maintain media lists and add dates to national website calendars and event listings
xii) produce and or regularly update risk assessments for all our existing and new activities/events
xiii) preparation of event proposals and budgets
xiv) general office and event administration

d) Other
i) undertake training and attend courses, where applicable, to include towing, fork lift truck, first aid, social media, marketing, WordPress and our annual staff training weekend plus others as and when directed by the directors of the company
ii) assist in the on-going training of temporary events staff
iii) provide holiday cover as and when required at the company’s warehouse


Experience in event management is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
